It stars Dulquer Salmaan, Jacob Gregory, Aparna Gopinath and Tovino Thomas in the lead roles. The film features music composed by Gopi Sunder, cinematography is handled by Jomon T. The film deals about the journey of two young American Malayalees to Kerala.
The title is based on the term American-Born Confused Desi.
The film was remade in Telugu as same name with Allu Sirish. The story revolves around two spoiled youngsters, Jones Isaac (Dulquer Salmaan) and his cousin Korah (Jacob Gregory). Jones is the son of a millionaire named Isaac (Lalu Alex) who is settled in New York, while Korah's mother left for Paris with her new husband. Jones and Korah enjoy their luxurious life by driving luxurious cars, going to pubs, etc. Isaac decides to send them to India, telling them it is a vacation, but then blocks their credit cards, forcing them to live in poverty in Kerala, where they become famous. Jones and Korah are given very poor accommodations where toilet water is not available liberally. Jones and Korah try to make money as side but ends up in mistake. Now their one way to go back America is by participating in Mr Fame and winning the prize money (100,000 rupees). So Jones and Korah participate in a protest which end up in police lathi charge. This gives good support for Jones and Korah, but Akilash, an election candidate, tries to trap them by tearing their visas. Jones hits Akilash, giving him a scrotal injury, near election time. This makes minister handle the situation without much problem creating by no arrest recording but a fast transport of Jones and Korah to America telling about them as American citizens. Apart from easy visa, Mr Fame award also announced which goes for Jones. Now in America, Jones is back with naughty life, shown by a black person coming out of a car and shouting at the gate of residence where Jones lives. The project was announced a few months before its shoot, acquiring the licence to shoot in the US delayed the commencement of the project.
